Letter: Kudos to Elden Street Players

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

To the Editor:

The Elden Street Players’ Industrial Strength Theater is currently presenting one of the most powerful stage performances you will ever see. “Wit” by Margaret Edson is beautifully written and beautifully performed.

The audience at the matinee on Sunday, June 13, gave the lead, Lorraine Magee, a standing ovation. The entire casting is perfect, in fact every element of this demanding play was picture perfect. There is not one false note by any of these truly inspiring actors.

It is my belief that this area deserves the best in community theater, and this production honors community — and beyond that, professional stages — everywhere. The Elden Street Players is truly one of the great theaters in the area, and this production is particularly demanding. Get your ticket now. As word gets out on the beauty of this performance, it may be hard to get a seat in this small, intimate theater. The play runs through June 26.

P.S. I am a season-ticket holder, and beyond that have no commercial interest in this theater. It's just so good to have great theater so close by!
