Dates and Times of the Auditions: Tuesday September 2nd & Wednesday
September 3rd from 7:00-8:30 pm
Audition Location: Hutchison Elementary School, 13209 Parcher Avenue,
Herndon, VA
Audition Format: The audition will consist of cold readings from the
script. An ability to let go and enjoy interacting with the audience is
paramount.
Casting Requirements:
Minimum Age to audition: 16+
3 or 4 women
1 or 2 men
2 - 4 men or women, non-speaking roles
Character Descriptions:
Andrew Fisherman - Male, same age range as Nancy
Nancy Fisherman (his wife) - Female, same age range as Andrew
The Fish - Male or Female, no specific age
Mrs. Trippett - Female, no specific age
Mrs. Followell – Female, no specific age
Townsfolk (non-speaking, can be stage crew) – Male & Female, mixed ages
All roles are open and are volunteer positions.
Performances:
Saturday November 1, 8, and 15 (11 am and 2 pm)
Sunday November 2 (noon)
Sunday November 9 and 16 (2 pm)
Synopsis:
This is a well-known story about a fisherman who catches a magic fish who can
grant him anything he desires. The fisherman asks for better homes, clothes, and
riches, hoping to make his wife happy, yet it appears that she will not be
pleased no matter how much she receives. In this version of the story, it all
turns out to have been a dream. Or was it?
About the Director:
John Shea is excited about this opportunity to direct his first show for the
Elden Street Players Theatre for Young Audiences. He has appeared in many of the
TYA plays over the years and feels inspired to put on the best show possible for
his favorite audience. In addition to acting, John has done a lot of work in the
technical crafts, especially for main stage productions. Among his credits are
stage manager, sound designer, master carpenter, and assistant lighting
designer.
